Therapeutic Elements
His House addiction treatment centers are dedicated to helping people with substance abuse issues. We want you to know that recovery from alcohol and drug addiction is possible, and that asking for help is the first step towards successful addiction rehabilitation.
Addiction is a disease of the mind and body. We offer a safe place for men to get clean and learn how to live a successful life without using alcohol or drugs.
If you or someone you love is suffering from an addiction disorder, we want you to know there is a light at the end of a seemingly dark tunnel. You are not alone. Addiction affects millions of people all over the world.
Our Mission
Our mission is to show you that recovery is not only possible; it could also be the best journey of your life!
Addiction does not discriminate. We have met people of all ages, genders, and walks of life who have been affected by addiction. Our facility is a full-service rehab that addresses the many facets of addiction treatment. Our goal is your recovery!
Therapy in Recovery
Therapy plays an essential role in the recovery from addiction. Therapy can also help to treat other mental health disorders that are sometimes co-occurring with the disease of addiction. We believe in the power of a therapeutic relationship.
It’s important to remember that addiction to drugs or alcohol is a disease of the mind as much as of the body. For some drugs, mental addiction or psychological addiction is much more powerful than physical addiction. Because of this, mental health treatment is generally required for a successful detox and recovery. Therapy – whether it’s group therapy, a 12 step program, individual therapy with a psychiatrist, outdoor therapy, or even just keeping a journal – allows the men staying at His House to take stock, assess the roots of their addiction, and get the most out of their time at our treatment facilities.
“In my early professional years, I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?” ― Carl R. Rogers
Below is a list of some of the types of therapy employed at our treatment facilities for men. Each one of these is a proven method of treating addiction and other mental health disorders:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a process by which a skilled therapist helps the client learn how to process information, think clearly, and make better decisions. CBT’s benefits include improved focus, memory retention, emotional support, and relapse prevention strategies.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is the therapeutic process of focusing on solutions to problems. This type of therapy does not spend a large amount of time rehashing the existing problems. The therapist aids the client in goal-setting and incorporating resolutions. This therapy is structured to be brief in nature.
Psychoeducational Groups
Psychoeducational groups are a type of group therapy that is facilitated by a knowledgeable professional. The group leader will present a specific topic to be discussed and learned. The goal of the group is to remain focused on the topic. This is a beneficial setting for addicts. Benefits of psychoeducational groups include gaining a support network, listening to other people’s perspectives, knowledge gained about pertinent topics relating to addiction, and it is a safe environment.
Strategic Family Therapy
An addiction doesn’t just affect one individual; it affects everyone around them. Many times the family, friends, and loved ones of a person suffering from addiction need help too. Strategic Family Therapy is a focused, intensive treatment plan for the families of our patients. In fewer sessions than traditional group therapy, we can help the families attain the skills and knowledge needed to avoid codependent behavior, enabling behavior, and triggers for relapse. Additionally, we can help the families accept the trouble addiction has brought and develop coping strategies.
